SkyVenture New Hampshire Trains Instructors and Controllers

SVNH ExteriorThe facility at SkyVenture New Hampshire is the latest iteration of the SkyVenture’s 12R-4 re-circulating tunnel. Through gradual improvements in the design and installation preliminary data during the commissioning process shows that this facility is the most efficient tunnel to date.

SVNH completes the training of their initial staff. The training program was led by Michael Biederman and was assisted by Carlos Euribe and Rusty Lewis of the IBA. There were six Instructor Level I graduates and six Airflow Controllers.

The training was conducted entirely at SkyVenture New Hampshire, while the facility completes construction of their retail space and awaits their Certificate of Occupancy, which should happen by the end of August.

Rob Greer and Laurie Wass, the owners of SkyVenture New Hampshire, were excellent hosts and provided for the needs of their staff and the visiting IBA trainers. Rob and Laurie also received their airflow controller ratings during the course of the training.

This course was the first were the IBA integrated training of Airflow Controllers as part of the program. In the past additional controllers were trained and certified on an as needed basis. Additional controllers allows a facility to leverage their staff, by allowing the instructors to spend more time being hands-on with clients in the tunnel, while controllers can specialize in driving. To qualify as a controller you must be 18+ years of age and be trained and certified by an IBA Trainer Level II.

Also attending the course were Kris Reynolds and Ray Kubiak. Kris and Ray are working to complete their Trainer Level IV certification. They shadowed the SVNH course in order to see the course from an objective, outside point of view. This provides a different perspective and more understanding than they could from participating or teaching the course. Now that they have shadowed the course they are certified as course conductors. In fact, Ray is already working as an assistant conductor for an FITP at SVAZ.
